Since its release in 2018, Assetto Corsa Competizione has sparked discussions about the balance of performance (BOP) among drivers. Notably, LFM’s GT3 racing series now introduces custom BOP, marking a new chapter that enables close and competitive racing with the widest variety of cars in ACC’s history.

There’s a few things you should know about to take advantage of custom BOP in your races, so let’s dive right in.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

HOW DOES CUSTOM BOP WORK?

Custom BOP adjusts car weight (up to 40kg) to equalize potential lap times across different cars. Weight and balance significantly impact a car’s performance. In general, a lighter car performs better than a heavier one.

Reduced weight makes it easier for the engine to accelerate and brakes to decelerate. Importantly, less weight reduces strain on tires, leading to higher cornering speeds and slower tire degradation.

Conversely, adding weight to a car can make GT3 cars feel more sluggish during acceleration and braking. It diminishes agility, speed in corners, and negatively impacts tire durability and, to some extent, fuel consumption.

Hence, it’s crucial to consider how BOP impacts competitions when selecting or building your setup. Additionally, GO Setups offers customized setups for cars affected by LFM’s custom BOP.

TIP: GO Setups’ custom BOP setups are tailored for Low Fuel Motorsport’s custom BOP, providing an advantage in competitions using LFM’s custom BOP or a similar custom BOP with values within +/- 5kg.

WHICH CARS ARE AFFECTED?

Currently, Low Fuel Motorsport’s custom BOP only affects GT3 models. Furthermore, some older GT3 cars like the Lexus RC F GT3 or Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 differ significantly from newer models like the Porsche 992 GT3 or Ferrari 296 GT3, making balance within the same field challenging.

Future seasons might witness more cars brought into closer balance of performance.

The following cars are currently affected by the LFM custom BOP:

  • Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II
  • AMR V8 Vantage
  • Bentley Continental
  • BMW M4 GT3
  • Ferrari 296 GT3
  • Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo
  • Honda NSX GT3 Evo
  • Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO 2
  • McLaren 720S GT3
  • McLaren 720S GT3 Evo
  • Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo
  • Porsche 992 GT3 R
  • Porsche 991 II GT3 R

WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE CUSTOM LFM BOP SETUPS?

We release setups for LFM’s GT3 Sprint and GT3 Series weekly tracks every Monday. To access the newly released setups, simply re-download the setup pack for the weekly tracks of any affected cars under the custom BOP.

Each track folder will contain two new setups: a qualifying (Q) and a race (R) setup for the daily series. The race setups are calibrated for the specific fuel quantity required for each weekly series. The filename indicates the amount of additional weight or weight reduction the setups are designed for.

We will notify you every Monday on Discord about our LFM BOP weekly releases.

USE YOUR ADVANTAGE AND STAY AHEAD

Custom BOP serves as a potent tool for ACC competitions, ensuring close and competitive racing among a diverse range of cars. However, drivers must account for these changes when selecting or configuring their car’s setup to maximize performance. Furthermore, GO Setups’ custom BOP setups provide a convenient way for all sim racers to lead the pack.

Stay informed and competitive with GO Setups as we continue to pioneer tailored solutions for the ever-evolving world of sim racing.
