AERODYNAMIC BALANCE

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 features a simplified aerodynamic design with a fixed front splitter and adjustable rear wing. While the rear wing does little to change the car’s balance, it plays a key role in managing drag. Lower wing angles are ideal for tracks with long straights like Monza, while higher angles work best at twisty circuits like Oulton Park to maximise downforce and cornering stability.

WET WEATHER & FUEL EFFICIENCY

The electronically adjustable traction control and ABS make the 718 GT4 adaptable to various weather conditions. Lower settings can be used on dry, grippy surfaces, while higher settings offer improved control on wet or less grippy tracks. Its naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six engine provides smooth power delivery, ensuring efficiency and reliable traction, especially in endurance races.

BRAKING EFFICIENCY

The Cayman GT4 requires precision when braking, especially on corner entry, where overdriving can lead to understeer. With ABS available, braking zones become manageable, though smooth inputs are needed to prevent unsettling the car. Its rear-engine layout provides natural stability, improving the vehicle’s braking performance.

PERFORMANCE IN VARIOUS CONDITIONS

The 718 GT4 excels on tracks where traction is essential, making it a top choice on circuits with limited grip. It rewards drivers with strong traction on corner exits, thanks to its rear-heavy design, offering significant advantages on slippery surfaces. However, mastering its stop-and-go driving style is essential to extract the car’s full potential on technical tracks.

TOP SPEED & STRAIGHT-LINE PERFORMANCE

Though not the fastest in a straight line, the GT4’s low-drag setup can still provide competitive speeds. Its rear wing adjustments allow for slight customisation, but the car shines more through corners than on high-speed sections.

TYRE MANAGEMENT

Smooth driving is key to managing tyre temperatures effectively. The 718 GT4’s strong traction allows it to conserve tyres on long runs, but aggressive corner entries can cause understeer, leading to unnecessary tyre wear. Controlled inputs ensure optimal performance over race stints.

WHY HYBRID SETUPS ARE ESSENTIAL

Endurance races often feature unpredictable weather, transitioning from dry to wet over several hours. To address this, organisers may increase the weather variability coefficient, leading to conditions that can change mid-race. With our new ACC Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Hybrid Setup, you have a configuration that works well in both dry conditions and medium rain, making it ideal for races with mixed weather.

KEY BENEFITS OF HYBRID SETUPS:

  • Adaptability: Ideal for races with variable weather, especially when there is a high chance of both dry and wet conditions.
  • Performance: These setups are optimised for 70% dry and 30% wet conditions, ensuring stable handling across different weather scenarios.
  • Consistency: Hybrid setups offer reliable performance in medium rain when there are many cars on the track, simulating near-dry conditions. For heavy rain or thunderstorms, switching to a MED WET setup is recommended.

WHEN TO USE HYBRID SETUPS

  • Mixed Weather Races: Perfect for endurance events where the weather forecast predicts a mix of dry and rainy conditions.
  • Medium Rain: Ideal when there are 25-30+ cars on track, creating a visible dry line, allowing the car to handle almost like it’s in light rain.
  • Avoid in Extreme Wet: Not suitable for heavy rain or thunderstorms; switch to a dedicated wet setup instead.

THE FIRST HYBRID SETUPS

We are proud to be the first to bring Hybrid Setups to the community. Our hybrid setups are designed to provide the perfect balance between dry and wet performance. With these setups, you can be confident that your car will handle well in various scenarios, giving you the edge you need on the track.

When in doubt between a full dry or wet setup, choose the Hybrid Setup to confidently handle most track scenarios.
